Hip-hop artist Kanye West will be appearing on an upcoming special episode of Shark Tank to pitch the sharks his new ideas for his fashion brand and other ideas under the Yeezus brand.
Kanye recently divulged that he was $53 million in debt from launching his fashion clothing line. During a Twitter rant, he even asked Mark Zuckerberg for one billion dollars. Since then, fellow rappers have come forward to offer him money. Shark Tank producers then approached West to pitch on their hit TV show.
Shark Tank is a television show where budding entrepreneurs can pitch their business to investors ‘the Sharks’ for capital to continue or expand their business for an equity stake. While several celebrities have been on the show to pitch ideas, Kanye West is by far the biggest.
The special episode was taped yesterday at Sony Studios in Culver City, CA. Details are being kept under wraps with additional non-disclosure agreements for cast and crew, but an inside source said Kanye asked for over $100 million, the largest asking price in Shark Tank history.
Many of the Kardashians were seen entering the Sony lot before filming, but we could not confirm if they were there as part of Kanye’s support team or if they will be part of the show. An hour long show is tough for one person so adding other characters could enhance the show. They could also be used as models for Kanye’s clothing and Kim Kardashian is known for being great at numbers relating to the business plan.
The hour-long special will air Friday, March 4th on ABC at 9/8 ET.
An extensive marketing campaign is underway to promote the potential ratings record-breaking episode.
