Much to the disappointment of her faithful fans, Sarah Palin has cancelled all of her upcoming personal appearances while she awaits a phone call from the Republican National Committee (RNC), begging her to be the Republican candidate for president in 2016.
Mrs. Palin cut short her national tour to promote her new book Sweet Freedom: A Devotional as soon as she learned that 2012 Republican Mitt Romney had been contacted about running but had politely declined.
“I know that all of those ladies who paid $25 each for a ticket to get a chance to get a signed copy of my book and a picture with me will be disappointed, but I have to do what’s best for the country, said Mrs. Palin from her front porch in Wasilla, Alaska. “And besides, Todd made sure that all of those ticket do-hickey whats-its are non-refundable, so they just made our great country even greater by being the first to get to contribute to my campaign. In the words of the Lord, they have been doubly blessed.
When reached for comment, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said that he knew of no plans to reach out to Mrs. Palin for a run in 2016, but as she is now almost considered “a normal person” when compared to the current GOP front-runners, he wouldn’t want to rule anything out. “At this point in the race, you just never know.“
