Ann Coulter Boycotts French Flag Social Media Profile Pictures

Ann Coulter 6After the horrendous terror attacks in Paris killing 129 people and wounding countless others, Facebook is allowing users to change their profile picture to overlay the French Flag in support and solidarity to those who were affected. Author and political pundit, Ann Coulter, took issue with the French Flag popping up all over Facebook.

“People who change their profile picture to the French Flag are idiots and un-American. I’m sorry, but it’s true,” Coulter told Sean Hannity of Fox News. “Since when has France controlled our media and specifically our social media?”

Coulter’s main objection was that social media is biased and does not promote profile pictures for causes she thinks are morally correct. “Why don’t we see an option to change your profile picture in support of white people? Cause we are afraid to be labeled a racist for standing up for our own color. That’s not right, it’s evil.

“And how about a profile picture overlapped with a Christian Cross? That’s what people should be doing to fight the Muslims. But once again, you do that and you’re labeled anti-Muslim.”

Her commentary continued but directed towards France. “They don’t even help us fight terrorist in the Middle East, and now they want us to feel bad for them? I certainly don’t.

“They should stop sending over baguettes and start sending bombs.”

Coulter’s views on the proper course of action: “We should be changing profile pictures when American cops are killed or when a baby is saved from a murderous abortion doctor. And heaven forbid people use the American Flag on their profile picture. We are Americans first and foremost, deal with it.

“Has the whole world gone crazy or am I the only sane person left?”

Just stupid. A French citizen, I thank foreigner for the empathy but won’t display the flag now linked to right wing extremism and racism. Just like I won’t display the US flag as linked to the US government protecting the sponsor states of terrorism like Saudi Arabia.

France has been fighting terrorism in the Middle East since your brilliantly conceived War in Iraq created ISIS actually

Sane person? Really? I don’t even get what the arguments exposed have to see with the phenomenon. The French flag ,which I personally didn’t put on my profile picture, refers mostly to the values which we (all) have to defend against terrorism and obscurantism, values which are widely deemed to be embodied by France and its History, but not only, as your own president reminded a few days ago. In no way this is stigmatizing a part of the population, as in your examples, it is only about support, tribute, about Unity behind a symbol, whether you like it or not. It could have been another one. But it has not, sadly, because everybody knows what happened in Paris. That’s sad to say but we had to wait for Paris to be bloody to all (more or less, apparently) feel concerned… So here we are, and you say crap, because you find the way to criticize a spontaneous and common way of saying “we’re with you, we stand together against the only enemy of Humanity” when a symbol gathering everybody would precisely be useful right now, to realize that people worldwide don’t accept this crawling threat, and have to unit to defeat it.
Let the people do what they want, let the people feel concerned when hundred people get killed, even if you are not (which I personally don’t consider as being “sane”), let people make us hope the beginning of a worldwide Unity against terrorism.

By the way, when we’ll actually send you baguettes you’ll know it, and you’ll stop eating these white bars you call “French bread”.
