California To Allow Pot Leaf On Vanity License Plates

California is the first state to allow the marijuana leaf to register as a license plate symbol. For $98 a year, the pot leaf can be yours in 2016.

As California begins to run out of number and letter combinations the state has begun incorporating symbols for a fee. The heart symbol has been available for nearly 10 years, and the hashtag will also be available in 2016. The pot leaf, while controversial, will bring in much-needed revenue to the in debt state and free up thousands of new car license plate options.

Los Angeles resident Kaleb Gunner told the LA Times, “California is about being an individual and not afraid to show it. I’m happy with the DMV’s decision to allow people to express themselves through their license plate, and make a little extra money in the process. Nothing wrong with that.

“Besides, if you get stuck in stopped traffic, you know what cars to hit up to pass the time.”

The new symbol is expected to generate the State of California an additional $5 million a year in issue and renewal fee revenue.

DMV supervisor Dale Woodcraft said, “I wonder what the prisoners in jail for weed think about printing these. Probably confusion.”

California has done crazier things. Arnold Schwarzenegger as governor, Los Angeles does not have an NFL football team despite being the second largest media market, and avocados on everything.

LAPD Officer Peter Hill said, “I guess we’ll know who to pull over.”
