After initially asking for $5 million to take part in the CNN Republican debate on December 15th, the business mogul is now demanding $20 million plus $1 million for every day that passes without the deal in place. Failure to pay Trump now would mean a total payment of $35 million by debate day.
Trump feels the huge TV ratings boost he brings to the cable network deserves compensation in a split of the ad revenue. ‘This is just business,” Trump told Fox News. “It’s only fair to be paid what you’re worth. I’d be stupid not to be paid. I’m not a sucker.”
Trump also outlined his pay package if elected president. “The president should get a percent of the tax revenue brought in by the IRS and other sales taxes. I figure 5% is fair.”
5% of the federal tax revenue would be $125 billion off $2.5 trillion in tax revenue. When pressed on the issue Trump stated, “Hey, we’ll have such fantastic growth that people will be begging me to take the money. Everyone will get rich under my reign.”
Salaries of government officials are usually voted on by committee or expressed through a policy that was enacted and deemed legal by a judge.
The $20 million will seem like nothing compared to the $125 billion Trump thinks he should get as President. “America is a company and as its CEO, I’m entitled to my fair pay in any work I do. That’s one of my main principles in life. You don’t become a billionaire by being a pushover; I’m not a Democrat.”
Many poor Americans seem to agree with Trump just incase they someday become president and will be paid $125 billion.
CNN has yet to respond to Trumps current ransom.
