Pop singer Justin Bieber was casually riding his hoverboard while making some business phones calls when the hoverboard spontaneously caught fire, engulfing Bieber’s feet and ankles in flames.
Bieber screamed and jumped off the board. With his pants and socks on fire, the singer rolled on the ground to extinguish the fire. One of his entourage members saw the fire and poured his sizzurp on Bieber’s ankles to help finish exterminate the flames.
There have been reports of hoverboards catching fire due to poorly made lithium batteries. Some retailers have discontinued the product and airlines have banned them from checked luggage due to safety concerns after reported fires.
Bieber was taken to the Sherman Oaks Emergency Hospital Medical Center for initial treatment. His ankles were severely burned, and there is no timetable when the singer will be able to dance again.
The pop star was stabilized and transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles where he has already begun rehabilitation. Chief of Burn Victims Unit director Todd Goldberg told TMZ, “He’s working hard so far. I think the whole accident shocked him at first, and now he and his team have come up with a plan to get him dancing as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, skin can only grow back so quickly.
“Luckily, the rest of his body is perfectly fine, but his feet will be tender for some time. He was really fortunate; it could have been much worse, those batteries can explode upward making it a napalm bomb.”
Justin Bieber’s rep declined to comment, but the world renowned celebrity will use social media to contact his fans shorty.
