Before the swimming events could even start their watches, all the Olympic Medals were stolen from a secure safe with two levels of security guards. The Olympic committee are investigating the thefts and have several suspects.

New medals are being made, hopefully in time for the awarding ceremony, but it takes time and money. Plus, with the initial theft, extra security measures will be implemented to ensure a safe arrival. The Committee also recommend the athletes keep an eye on their medals and keep them in a secret secure place.

Two of the medals have already shown up online for sale through a Russian online bidding website like eBay and another one through a popular Chinese auction website.

Other attempts to steal more medals have occurred but have been thwarted.

Many thefts have been reported during the Rio 2016 Olympics. From team jerseys and shoes to hotel bed sheets in the Olympic Village, theft has been running rampant. The theft of the Gold medals takes the cake. Rio politicians continue to apologize for the indiscretions of its citizens, but tourists and athlete are sick of hearing apology after apology.

The swinging events begin August 6th, only on NBC.
