A small start-up in Chicago has developed an app that locates Donald Trump supporters in your neighborhood.
The Trumpr Locator app mission statement is to help sway the vote by pressuring his supporters of the Republican candidates xenophobia and pure selfishness. The app warns its users to always travel in groups and if the Trump supporter brandishes a gun or other weapon, to leave the area immediately and mark the person as hostile on the app, so other supporters know not to engage the person.
The app also added a game feature. For every Trump supporter, you get to pledge to vote for someone else or stay home on voting day; the user gets points that can be redeemed for gift cards and other free giveaways.
The company has already seen 40,000 downloads and grossed $70,000 in revenue through advertisements. The app was funded by a Chicago venture capitalist who is adamantly opposed to Trump and his potential presidency.
Trump’s former campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, said, “This is racist. The app was made by Mexicans and Muslims we think.” But according to the apps website all the programmers are white and male.
“We already know the educated don’t like us,” said Lewandowski. “The poorly educated love us and they are too dumb to download the app anyway. Most of our supporters use a flip phone. We are the flip phone campaign, and I’m very proud to have helped built that.”
Users of the app have had a great time but also shocked on who is a Trump supporter. Many of their friends are ‘closet’ Trump fans. “We know who houses to toilet paper on Halloween this year,” wrote one user.
The app also brings up privacy concerns, but the app developers said all they did was buy information from the RNC committee and anyone can do it for the right price. “All politicians gather information on their supporters so they can target ads and other information to the right people. There are huge databases of information that is for sale for anyone willing to spend the money. All we did was aggregate that data into a map location system and added a game for our users to win gift cards,” said Trumpr founder Will Osprey.
