With a generous donation of $50 million to the group Black Lives Matter, presidential hopeful Donald Trump hopes to win some of the African-American vote. “I’m a great guy like that,” Trump told BET. “I support black lives, brown lives, yellow lives, orange lives, you name a color and I support it.”
The donation comes after yet another police shooting of a 12-year-old where a city’s prosecutor declined to press charges. Thus, leading to more protests, many under the Black Lives Matter banner.
“I’ll do more for the black community in one day than Obama will do in a lifetime,” said Trump. “I’m against the killing of innocent people. Always have been, always will be.”
Trump, who is funding his own campaign, wishes to court the black vote and sees this as the best strategy to accomplish this feat. “You think Clinton cares about the blacks? Bernie Sanders state doesn’t even have black people in it. I’m the most progressive Republican when it comes to lives. This includes kids still in the womb and kids on the street,” said Trump. “I’m from Queens, so I know how it is.”
With good intentions in mind, Trump doesn’t seem to know what the money would be for or how it will be delivered to the fragmented protest group. “Fifty million can buy a lot of fried chicken and shoes,” said Trump. “Now, who do I give the check to? Jesse Jackson? Al Sharpton? I know them both very well, great guys. Lots of respect both ways.”
“I’m sure they know a liquor store where they can cash that check right away. I only wish Martin Luther King was here today to see my act of generosity and compassion.”
