With the fast food burrito chain continually losing stock value and revenue, Chipotle is ready to add nachos to their menu in hopes to regain lost sales and bring in new customers.
Chipotle CEO, Steve Ells, told Bloomberg News, “We are starting a customer loyalty program that will provide free burritos to our loyal customers. And I’m happy to announce we will be adding nachos to our menu.
“We already have the chips. We already have the bowls. We already have the ingredients, so it won’t be hard to add. They will be priced the same as burritos, with guacamole an extra fee.”
Other fast food Mexican chains have had nachos on their menu for years. Qdoba, Taco Bell, and Star Burritos have all relied on nachos to gain revenue from children. “Kids love nachos,” said Ells. “That’s what our test groups have shown us.”
With the stock price well below the 52 week low, Chipotle has no choice but to make drastic changes. Nachos are a radical change to Chipotle’s menu.
