After former pro-wrestler turned UFC fighter CM Punk lost to Mickey Gall 2:52 into the first round, it was announced that Gall had failed a drug test earlier in the day. The positive results came in right after the submission ending bout.

24-year-old Gall had amphetamine in his system. CM Punk is a renowned ‘straight-edge’ which means he’s against drugs and smoking of any kind. “I don’t even drink coffee,” Punk told reporters. There is no word yet on what amphetamine Gall tested positive for but only doctor prescribed drugs are allowed. I.e Adderall or Ritalin.

According to inside UFC sources, Gall was aware he would probably fail his fight day drug test but also knew he would have an excuse on why the test would be positive. The second sample will still need to be independently tested to confirm the positive drug test.

Recently a UFC fighter was banned for 5 years after testing positive for marijuana. And WWE superstar Brock Lesnar failed a drug test for a one and done bout in the heavyweight division before going back to the WWE where he knocked out Randy Orton at Summerslam. The elbow to the head caused the match to end and Orton needed 18 staples to close the gash left by Lesnar.
