Even after several mayors in rural Pennsylvania offered huge tax cuts to bring the manufacturing of the hats to their area, Trump decided China was still better.
“I thought he would bring back jobs? We can make hats and we can make them good,” said out of work steel worker Tom Travis told the Pittsburgh Gazette. “I went to a rally and heard him say he’d bring back those jobs. I thought maybe we lost the contract to another American town but instead we lost the bid to a Chinese city I can’t even pronounce.”
The Trump transition team commented via the discussion forum Reddit saying, “We needed the hats today and only the Chinese could do it. If we wanted some rural town to make the hats, it could take days. Ho has that time?
