New Jersey Stops Italian Immigration Over Mafia Concerns

New Jersey Governor and Republican Candidate, Chris Christie, said he has halted immigration from Italy over concern that some of the people might be associated with the Mafia.

“This policy would have been more effective in the 1910s but better late than never,” Christie told the New York Times. “It gives us the illusion of security and that’s the best type of security.”

Concerns were mounting that having more Italians would lead to more violence, bootlegging, and gambling with innocent civilians getting caught in the crossfire.

“The last thing we need is an Italian extremist setting off a bomb on one of our famous Jersey Shore boardwalks to attack a Mafia rival like we see on TV shows all the time,” said Christie. “Better safe than sorry. Besides, we already have enough Italian restaurants in New Jersey, do we really need any more?”

The decrease in Italian immigration is expected to hurt the growth of the hair gel and undershirt industries. The price of cologne has already dropped 20% on the speculation of the immigration ban.
